Jim Lachey played offensive lineman (guard) for the Ohio State Buckeyes. As a senior in 1984, he was named an All-American offensive lineman as he helped pave the way for running back Keith Byars, who led the nation in rushing that season with 1,764 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Lachey was selected 12th overall in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He played for the Chargers (1985-87), the Los Angeles Rams (1988) and the Washington Redskins (1988-95). He was named a Pro Bowler and first-team all-pro three times each during his career. In Washington, Lachey helped the Redskins win Super Bowl XXVI by beating the Buffalo Bills 37-24 on Jan. 26, 1992.
